Human in Space

Project
Human in Space

The photographic project “Human in Space” is a visual study about the effect of space on human perceptiveness. Architectural design, the influx of light, color, classification of objects, construction materials, all interact in the unconscious of the human brain and influence its psychology. In short terms, the photographic series concerns a closer relationship that is created between the animate and inanimate material world.

The conceptual framework of the project deals with the influence of constructed reality on contemporary everyday life. Essentially, the frames emerge through a series of questions concerning the “discomfort” of an immovable “world-space” and the effect it has on the visitor. Is the subjectivity of the interaction perceived as well as the awareness of the correlation? How does human existence define itself through the material world, what is its future?

The imposingness of an architectural construction often obliterates the “importance” of the human body as it dominates due to its huge volume. Sometimes the identity of a space is harmonized with human demands by developing a relationship of proximity.

While architecture is the science that serves human needs, the human bodies, however, roam aimlessly in modern cities of large buildings every day, where western culture is rapidly replacing the natural environment with a constructed world.
